The first flutes and piccolos made by The H. N. White Company were made for the Cleveland brand in 1929-30. Starting around 1936 the King brand started making it's own silver flute with a few unique features such as a "head and embouchure plates that are made of Solid Sterling Silver" and a "body which is made of especially hard drawn White Metal Seamless Tubing." In 1939-40 the first King brand piccolo entered production, and an American Standard piccolo was added. Each King piccolo had a sterling silver head and embouchure plate, the body was made out of the finest nickel silver and springs made of gold wire. The H. N. White Company made all of its own flute and piccolos and did not stencil any for other companies (that I know of). The H. N. White Company made very popular flutes and piccolos until the company was sold in 1965.

This page is designed to show the first known year of production (based on my catalogs) and any changes that are made over the production cycle of the instruments including model numbers and any unique specifications.
